This year I decided I wanted to have a place where I could shoot lifestyle sessions in my own home, somewhere where I could control the lighting situation and create an intimate environment for small family sessions, newborns and maternity shoots.
I had my Mother’s Day mini shoots earlier in the year, which I still need to share here on my blog, so I revamped our spare room and set it up as a sort of bedroom studio but without the artificial lighting, because white backgrounds and big lights are really not my thing. I love shooting natural lifestyle sessions and now that I can work from my own home, it just makes everything so much easier.
Hayley came in for a maternity shoot and brought her daughter Ivy with her so they could get some cute pictures together before the new baby arrived. I recently got the chance to photograph the new arrival, Violet, and I will be sharing her gorgeous images next so keep your eyes peeled for those.
This new bedroom studio room is perfect for tired parents with newborns as I of all people know how hard it is to keep your home clean and tidy in those first few weeks after a tiny human arrives. They may be small but the mess they help create is insane. My little boy is 17 months old now and I’ve still not got the hang of keeping on top of things!
Booking your studio photography session is really simple, just get in touch with me to discuss your session in more detail. What to wear is probably one of the questions I get asked the most and I’m going to be putting together an outfit guide for future shoots to make it easier for people. But what you wear during your shoot could be one of the most important aspects and outfits you choose must coordinate and photograph well together. For this reason I am building a client wardrobe and currently I offer a few dresses for maternity photography sessions. I am hoping this will grow over the next few months so outfit options will be a lot easier for people.
In the meantime, enjoy these images from Hayley’s maternity shoot and I’ll be back soon with some images of tiny newborn Violet!
