Last month I was treated to a lovely wine tasting experience and weekend stay at Chiltern Valley Winery & Brewery, which is also home to the gorgeous wedding venue– Old Luxters Barn. The barn is set within the unique winery, brewery, bed & breakfast and vineyard. I’ve never shot a wedding here before but would absolutely love to so I’ve put together a mini post on Old Luxters Barn Weddings to help you plan your special day. Bear in mind I only had one portrait lens with me on this weekend so my images don’t really do this venue justice!
Old Luxters Barn is perfect for couples who are looking to hold their entire day in one place. With over 10 years experience in arranging weddings, they are one of Chiltern Hills Register Office’s most popular venue. The Barn itself seats up to 100 people but for couples looking to have a more intimate wedding, the venue can be personalised to meet your needs.
We happened to be there on one of the most miserable days of the year and it did not stop raining all day! This made the barn seem quite dark, but I’m sure once it’s all set for a wedding, this wouldn’t be a problem. Dark or not, it is extremely beautiful nonetheless and is adorned with pretty fairy lights on the beams above.
One of the things I really love about this wedding venue, and the main reason why I would love to shoot a wedding here, is because the grounds are beautiful. The courtyard or lawn area outside the barn is perfect for guests to enjoy champagne and canapés and if you have quite a few guests, there is also a marquee area next door to the barn, so do not worry about what to do if it rains.
Evening entertainment & party:
Old Luxters Barn is licensed until 2am and provides entertainment in the form of music or even a barn dance, so you and your guests can party till the early hours of the morning if need be. It seems they can also take care of all the food throughout the day, and offers such as chef stations and food bars, where food is prepared in front of guests, are available options. This sounds like the perfect venue for minimalistic weddings which you can read about in this post.
Like I said, we stayed here when the weather was terrible so unfortunately, we didn’t get to see the much talked about Vineyard, however, we did have full view of it from our bedroom window! Even in the rain it looks like the perfect place to take couples for their portraits and I can only imagine how stunning it looks when the sun is setting. A fine art photographers dream come true I think!
Bed & Breakfast:
Chiltern Valley Winery & Brewery has a lovely B&B available for couples and a few guests. There are only 5 double bedrooms in the main house and a poolside room, which on the website looks kind of like an outbuilding with a very small private pool, and I assume would be used for the bride & groom. More information on this is available on the Chiltern Valley website. Looking at the website, the bride-to-be can also get ready here which is great for bridal prep photos and of course, saves travelling anywhere on the day.
